Chapman Tripp supporting the visual arts in Christchurch
2 October 2015
Chapman Tripp has entered a strategic partnership with the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu, which will open again to the public on 19 December.
The Gallery has a very significant role in the revitalisation of the CBD and Chapman Tripp is proud to be helping to make that possible, said Chapman Tripp Chief Executive Partner Andrew Poole.
The arts are important to a community’s sense of wellbeing – a spirit that the gallery is already contributing to through the neon “Everything is going to be alright” installation by British artist Martin Creed, which was officially switched on at the weekend.
Public art which is available to everyone becomes part of the cityscape and contributes to the Christchurch experience, which was why Chapman Tripp was pleased to assist the Gallery with the purchase in 2013 of the Michael Parekowhai work, Chapman’s Homer, the bull on the grand piano.
Our support for the Gallery is part of a wider commitment to supporting New Zealand’s vibrant and diverse arts community, which is one of three themes in our Corporate Social Responsibility programme – the other two being developing New Zealand businesses locally and internationally and supporting New Zealand’s youth through training and education.
Christchurch partner Garth Gallaway is a trustee of the Christchurch Art Gallery Foundation so we have an established relationship to build on.
