Brand new Bridgestone Tyre Centre premises in Timaru

Experienced Timaru local helps usher in brand new commercial Bridgestone Tyre Centre premises in Timaru

Bridgestone Tyre Centre Timaru opened last month on October 1st in the northern suburb of Washdyke. The Firestone retail store remains on the corner of Church and Bank Street with the brand new commercial Bridgestone Tyre Centre premises opened at Washdyke at 417 Old North Road.

Peter Pitcaithly takes on the role of Store Manager for the new Bridgestone Tyre Centre store. Peter is well known in the region through his past work with Rotary. He has also been active in the local business community with 30 years in Firestone, 12 of which were in the Timaru area.

“The team and I are very excited about the new store,” Peter says, “which is much closer to the industrial heart of Timaru. This means faster response times and a closer proximity for customers coming to us. For those who need our assistance in the field, we have two fleet service vehicles that will respond to customers’ calls for service.

Jeremy Mackintosh, National Stores Manager - Commercial, says the purpose built store is far more customer and staff friendly. “Previously staff had to work outside on a forecourt that was not completely level,” he says. “Now we have a full level drive through for large trucks and trailers as well as the equipment and experience to tackle any tyre related job.”

Mackintosh notes that the new store which is 489 sq. meters has also been designed to align closely with Bridgestone’s focus on health and safety, service quality and an optimised working environment for its employees. “With this redevelopment Bridgestone is investing in the long-term future of our industry and the industries we support in the greater Canterbury region.”

This store represents that commitment; particularly with its new drive-through bay and upgraded facilities for customers and staff throughout the premises.”
