McCaw to continue as Air New Zealand ambassador

Air New Zealand brand ambassador Richie McCaw has confirmed he’ll continue his work with the airline re-signing as an ambassador for a further two years, following his retirement from international rugby.

The airline has been a sponsor of the All Blacks for more than two decades and Richie McCaw has been an Air New Zealand brand ambassador since 2010.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon says the airline is proud to support world class New Zealanders, such as Richie McCaw.

“Richie has made a huge contribution to rugby in New Zealand and around the world and is an inspiration to New Zealanders young and old.

“While it’s sad we will no longer be seeing him on the rugby field, it’s exciting Richie has decided to continue his close association with us as an Air New Zealand brand ambassador.

“He truly embodies the airline’s can-do values and of course shares our love of aviation too.”

Richie McCaw will travel to Argentina on Air New Zealand’s inaugural Buenos Aires service on 1 December where he’ll help to promote destination New Zealand while spending some time with local budding rugby players showing them how it’s done.

Richie McCaw says he has fond memories of working with Air New Zealand over the years, including starring in two safety videos, participating in photo shoots, interacting with fans at promotional events and getting to know Air New Zealanders.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed partnering with Air New Zealand as a brand ambassador and appreciated the opportunities our partnership has presented. Having a world-class airline that is uniquely New Zealand taking the All Blacks to all corners of the globe has helped us immensely in the team’s preparations.
“I look forward to continuing this next stage of my journey with Air New Zealand, starting with Buenos Aires.”
