Very hot and humid weather during the week meant heat pumps were turned to cooling mode all over the region driving up electricity demand.
On Wednesday last week, Vector’s peak load was 1264 MW, up 133MW on the same day the previous year. This equates to the annual useage (8,000 kW per annum) of 16,625 households.

Electricity
Car v pole incidents were up from last week to four in Kohimarama, Grey Lynn, Papatoetoe East and Wakefield Street in the CBD.
House and building fires occurred in Panmure, Castor Bay and Otahuhu. Vector crews attended at the request of the Fire Service in order to isolate the electricity supply for safety.
Gas
Damage was caused to
our networks by third parties in Tauranga, New Lynn,
Frankton, East Tamaki, Inner Kaiti, Devonport and Penrose.
