Refining NZ Fire Attendance
Refining NZ Fire Attendance
At around 4.20 pm this afternoon the Refining NZ emergency services team attended a small fire on the decommissioned (closed down) platformer unit at the refinery.
The fire was quickly contained and was subsequently put out. At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown. Our incident management team will know more once they carried out their investigation of the incident.
Unfortunately, a member of our maintenance crew sustained minor injuries, and as a precaution was taken for further checks at Whangarei Hospital. We expect that the crew member will remain in hospital overnight.
