Auckland DHB scores 100% in Good Employer review

Auckland DHB scores 100% in Good Employer review

Auckland DHB has scored top marks for the second year in a row in an independent review of its compliance against its Good Employer reporting obligations.

In an annual review by the Human Rights Commission, Auckland DHB’s overall compliance is rated at 100% for its reporting of its Good Employer obligations, a requirement of all crown entities.

Chief Executive Ailsa Claire said,” This acknowledges a lot of hard work behind the scenes as we focus on the elements of what it is to be a Good Employer. Women comprise the majority of our staff. The 100% rating shows we do our best to create a good workplace where people are valued and listened to.”

Ms Claire said this was reflected in the Auckland DHB values: to welcome and see people as individuals, to work together on shared goals, to respect each other and to aim high for every element of health care offered by Auckland DHB services.

Each year the Commission reviews the reporting of good employer obligations in crown entity annual reports and also monitors progress toward equality employment opportunities and the provision of good employer guidance. The measures include a review of seven good employer elements, including Leadership, Accountability and Culture; Flexibility and Work design, and a Safe and Healthy Environment.

The Human Rights Commission has a statutory role to monitor progress toward the improvement of equal employment opportunities. Each year it reviews 93 Crown Entities.
