Corporation resumes sales of steel mesh
Euro Corporation is resuming sales of its SE615-500STD steel mesh, after reaching an agreement with the Commerce Commission to lift the suspension of sales announced on 4 March 2016. The company will ensure that additional tests from each batch of steel mesh are tested by Holmes Solutions, an independent IANZ-accredited laboratory, to confirm the batch meets the AS/NZS 4671:2001 standard.
Randal McKenzie, Managing Director of Euro Corporation, noted that as a result of a meeting of industry participants, convened by MBIE on 14th April, it is clear that Euro Corporation has been adopting the correct approach to the standard.
Mr McKenzie said that “testing more product per batch is extra cost for us, but it’s also extra assurance for our customers. We continue to take issue with how the Commission has approached the standard in its investigation, but this is a pragmatic way forward that allows us to resume sales as quickly as possible. We have been greatly encouraged by our customers’ support and patience during this period.”
Mr McKenzie also said that Euro Corporation believes the quality assurance regime for all its products is second to none in the New Zealand market. “For example, we only ever use an independent IANZ-accredited laboratory to do our New Zealand testing, rather than doing it in-house. And our imported steel reinforcing products are only sourced from factories with internationally recognised accreditations such as ILAC, ISO and the Bureau Veritas ‘S’ Mark Product Certification.”
Euro Corporation expects stocks of its SE615 steel mesh to become available after additional testing is completed, and will advise its merchant customers directly about deliveries to individual stores.
