Taste the delights of Balmoral with a new walking tour

PRESS RELEASE

10 June 2016

Taste the delights of Balmoral with a new walking tour

A new walking tour of Balmoral will take food lovers on a journey down Auckland’s Dominion Road and through its diverse range of Chinese cuisine.

Building on her successful Sandringham Food and Spice Tour, Eat Auckland Tours’ Lisa Loveday has developed a new three-hour tour that showcases the signature dishes of six of the best Chinese restaurants in Balmoral. Participants will get to sample each dish, watch some of them being made, and learn about their creation and history.

“Balmoral is such an exciting neighbourhood,” says Loveday, a food writer and tour guide. “You can taste food from the north to the south of China. From spicy to sweet, hand-pulled noodles to dumplings, and tofu twenty different ways – it’s all there within a couple of blocks.”

Tours begin on the 19th of June and run on alternating Saturdays and Sundays from 3-6pm. Spaces are limited to 14 people, and bookings can be made for $55 per person via Satellites.co.nz.

The Eat Balmoral tour is part of ‘Satellites’, a pilot programme of events celebrating diverse arts outside of the city centre. The programme is presented by arts and culture publication The Pantograph Punch, and is funded and supported by Auckland Council.
