NZ Pilots’ Association Urges AVSEC to withdraw proposed lock out
The New Zealand Air Line Pilots’ Association (NZALPA) is concerned by AVESC’s proposed lock-out of key aviation security personnel who form the backbone of New Zealand’s front line aviation security defences.
NZALPA President, Tim Robinson, said “The staff of AVSEC do not merely screen passengers, they are highly trained and skilled personnel who are responsible for the security screening of hold bags, cargo and a wealth of other items loaded onto aircraft. Therefore, the proposed lock-out not only has the potential for a significant lowering of NZ’s aviation security defences, but may also result in a period of vulnerability which may be exploited in the future.”
NZALPA urges AVSEC to withdraw its proposed lock out and return to the bargaining table with the PSA and Etū.
