2016 Porirua Business Awards Boast Record Entries

PRESS RELEASE

The 2016 Porirua Business Awards are off to an exciting start with record entry numbers. ‘We’re in year two of a three year rebuilding phase so I’m delighted with the uptake.’ advises Executive Director Tracy Johnson. She points out that entering the business awards is not just about being a finalist. The process comes with tangible benefits for all entrants as they receive feedback and ideas on how they can develop their business in keeping with their goals.

We have a high calibre of judges who are committed to providing practical feedback for entrants. For many people in business lifestyle balance is as much a priority as the bottom line and for those who are focussed on innovation and business growth the Awards have lots to offer as well.

Our role in the city is also to be a conduit between local business and business support/growth agencies such as WREDA, Export NZ and NZTE. The Awards provides an intimate understanding of what business support is required in Porirua by individual business and how we can support them. No one should feel isolated in business with the support that is available locally, regionally and nationally.

The Business Awards is an important annual event in Porirua for numerous reasons. ‘We have lots of successful businesses in Porirua with very little profile and the Awards is a way of highlighting this’. It’s also a pathway to promote local business success at the Gold Awards (the Wellington Regional Business Awards). Award winners are ambassadors for our business community in Porirua City.

For entrants Awards are an exciting way to acknowledge staff, take some time out to see how your business is going and enjoy the opportunity to get free business advice from reputable judges. The icing on the cake is the Awards Evening where guests and finalists enjoy a celebration of being in business.

‘Many award recipients enter several times before winning. For some it may be about setting a goal to win an award in three years. By utilising the judge’s feedback each year is a great way to get you there’ It’s a huge acknowledgement for businesses to win the award. Often winning an award is about an individual business journey and not the competing with others.
