Harcourts Holmwood calls for City Mission donations

23 November, 2016

With the festive season upon us Harcourts Holmwood in Christchurch is turning its attention to some of Christchurch’s less fortunate families by collecting for Christchurch City Mission.

The team at Harcourts Holmwood is collecting and donating non-perishable food items, blankets and toiletries for the City Mission food bank, to be delivered in time for Christmas.

Harcourts Holmwood CEO Tony Jenkins says it’s an unfortunate reality that the City Mission experiences its own Christmas rush as already struggling families are hit with additional financial and emotional stress.

“Supporting the Mission with donation of food and other useful household items is one easy way everybody can give back to help out our community,” he says.

In 2015 Christchurch City Mission gave out 25,058 food parcels to 6,849 families; 21% of those families had never presented to the Mission before for assistance. This increase has become an annual trend since the 2011 earthquake.

Throughout the year, the Mission gives out an average of approximately 2,000 food parcels each month but in December 2015 that doubled to 4,079 parcels, assisting 713 families.

Anybody who wishes to contribute to Holmwood’s collection can drop off non-perishable food items, blankets and toiletries to any of Harcourts Holmwood offices in Ilam, Fendalton, Merivale and St Albans or phone 03 351 3002 for collection.

Office Locations:

407 Ilam Road, Ilam

74 Edgeware Road, St Albans

142 Sherborne Street, St Albans

51 Holmwood Road, Fendalton

175 Papanui Road, Merivale
