Fullers to launch new tour bus product on Waiheke Island

Fullers to launch new tour bus product on Waiheke Island, providing visitors increased flexibility and personalised service.
Auckland, 25 November 2016

Fullers announced today that it will be launching a new tour bus product for Waiheke Island which will give visitors to the Island a brand new experience.

The new Explorer Hop-on Hop-off service will replace the current Waiheke Explorer and seasonal Vineyard Hopper tour products, introducing a more flexible bus service. Utilising double decker buses, the new service provides visitors a unique vantage point with informative commentary on the history and highlights of the island and a personalised on-board concierge service to help visitors plan their day.

Chief Executive Douglas Hudson says, “the growth of visitors to the island is flourishing year on year, especially evident by record attendance over this year’s Labour Weekend. The investment of these 70-seater buses will complement the Waiheke Bus Company services, alleviating wait times and overcrowding during the peak season.”

“We’re providing visitors to the island with a quality experience, enabling them the flexibility to get around the island at their own pace rather than that of a set tour.”

“Further, the modern double deckers provide higher seating capacity, yet occupy less road space per passenger than a standard bus. They comply with Euro 5 exhaust emissions standards, limiting the impact on the environment, and making it a cleaner, greener way to get around.”

Commencing in mid-December, Explorer Hop-on Hop-off utilises three double decker buses working to a half hour timetable. Meeting the ferry from Auckland, the bus service travels to Onetangi Beach, Ostend and Oneroa Beach, with select stops along the way at vineyards, shops, galleries and cafes. The route travels up to Nick Johnstone Drive to complete the loop, returning to the ferry.

The opening special ticket price will be $49 for adults and $25 for children (including ferry).
