Richard Young re-stands for SFF Board

Young focused on realising improved returns from successful Shanghai Maling Partnership

Richard Young is seeking another term on the SFF co-operative board to play his part in ensuring a successful partnership with Shanghai Maling delivers improved returns to farmers.

“The past three years has required a lot of hard work to deliver a sustainable capital structure and future for SFF,” says Mr Young.

About Richard Young

Richard runs a 300ha intensive sheep and cropping property at Tapanui, West Otago. He is married to Keri, a practise nurse in Gore, and has three children. He attended Otago Boys High School before completing a B.Com in Economics at Otago University. He went shearing for six years before purchasing his first block of land in 1997.

Richard has been heavily involved in the Tapanui community holding positions in many sporting clubs as well as spending six years on the Tapanui School Board of Trustees. He completed the Kelloggs Rural Leadership course in 2011 and completed the Leading Board cooperative governance course in 2013. He is a member of the Institute Of Directors and has completed the Company directors training in 2014, Audit and Risk committee training in 2016 as well as a Health & Safety module in 2016. He is a director of a commercial property investment company and owner /operator of Balmaha Farms.

Away from the Board table and the shearing shed, Richard’s interests include golf, cycling and actively supporting his children both academically and on the sporting field.
