Winners Announced Last Night at the Facilities Management Awards
At a Gala Awards Dinner held last night at Villa Maria Estate in Auckland, the Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ) paid tribute to two of its members who have excelled in their profession.
“We established the Awards last year to recognise and applaud the achievements of individuals who have excelled in Facilities Management, to promote the FM industry to the wider community, and to highlight the significant contribution FM makes to the health, wellbeing and productivity of New Zealanders,” said FMANZ Chairman Bruce Kenning during the ceremony last night, which was hosted by award-winning comedian Ben Hurley.
The Brian Happy Award for Facilities Manager of the Year was presented to Mark Sinclair, Managing Director of FM Concepts Limited, and Director of Facilities for the Britomart Group, which owns, develops and manages a 6.3 hectare site in downtown Auckland.
“This award recognises the outstanding performance by an individual working in the FM profession – someone who has applied their experience and knowledge to produce exceptional results within their facility, as well as demonstrating excellent personal qualities,” said Bruce Kenning.
Mark Sinclair has been in the FM industry in New Zealand for over 22 years. While delivering Facilities Management to a broad range of clients, he has also trained others within the industry and been an advocate for the industry through multiple avenues.
Thirty-one year-old Gregory Emms took away the Young Achiever of the Year Award. A Lead Project Engineer in the Downer FM team, Gregory supports Transpower NZ, helping to manage and maintain the non-generation assets on the Transposer National Power Grid.
“This award recognises an FM professional under 35 years of age who has shown a strong and ongoing commitment to their personal development and that of the wider industry,” said Bruce Kenning.
“Greg is an innovative, driven and focused FM Engineer, who by hard work and total client engagement has delivered a quality and forward leaning Facilities Management system for Transpower NZ,” said Peter Cosgrove, Service Delivery Manager for Downer NZ – Integrated FM. “Highly regarded by Transpower, Greg has been a high achiever in the Downer NZ FM team.”
The Awards Ceremony took place during FMANZ’s annual two-day FM Summit, held at Villa Maria Estate in Auckland, 3-4 May.
Background on FMANZ
The Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ) represents New Zealand's community of Facilities Management professionals and supports education, networking and knowledge sharing for members and member organisations.
FMANZ’s professional members are in-house Facilities Managers and external FM consultants working in a variety of sectors including commercial, banking, health, education, retail, manufacturing, government, transport, defence, emergency services and utilities.
FMANZ was incorporated in 2008 by a group of Facilities Managers who recognised the importance of excellence and professionalism in FM, and identified a need for knowledge sharing and education to advance the profession.
