Prestige Law Livestreams Legal Info to Chinese Community

Prestige Law Livestreams Legal Information to Online Chinese Community

Prestige Law’s principal and founder, Royal Reed, livestreams legal information on Skykiwi, New Zealand’s largest Chinese website.

Skykiwi filmed its first stream with Ms Reed in October last year. In the past year, Skykiwi has asked Ms Reed to film streams providing legal information on topics that it believes the Chinese community in New Zealand want to hear about.

In the most recent stream, Ms Reed discussed the rights of tenants in rental properties to over 4,000 viewers.

"The growing numbers of Chinese investors in New Zealand's real estate sector and more who are renting here are hungry for knowledge and information that will help them manage their tenancy relationships and experiences better. The Chinese media has found themselves in front of many questions and requests for help to understand the tenancy situations they are in either as renters or landlords. The community wants to know better and have found the rules and expectations very different from those of their own countries."

Earlier this year, Ms Reed discussed Immigration New Zealand’s widely talked about policy changes to over 60,000 Chinese viewers.

"The recent changes in many aspects of the immigration policy are obviously a big blow to those who are intending to migrate to New Zealand, and even for those who are already in the pool [...]. There is a lot of expectation when you are in that kind of process that the sky will not change colour on you, but it did. The changes are so vast and sudden, [potential applicants] need a lot of answers, clarifications and practical information to reorganise themselves."
