Kiwi Hospitality Professional Returns “Home” to Launch Camp Glenorchy

GLENORCHY, NEW ZEALAND, 25 May 2017 - A Kiwi hospitality professional who has spent the last two decades running international resorts and eco lodges has returned to New Zealand to manage the country’s first Net Zero energy accommodations.

Peter Kerr has been appointed Manager of Camp Glenorchy, a new residential tourist destination for meetings and retreats, school trips, family celebrations, and friends who share a love of the great outdoors.

“Peter has decades of experience developing resorts, hotels and spa retreats in other countries and wants to settle back down in his own country,” says Debbi Brainerd, co-creator of Camp Glenorchy. “He is passionate about customer service and guest satisfaction, and shares our enthusiasm around sustainable design, combined with knowing all profits of the business will be going into the local community trust.”

Originally from Dunedin, Peter’s career has seen him leading destination hotels and resorts in New Zealand, Tonga, Tanzania, Samoa, India, the Maldives and Fiji, including the Gibbs Farm Luxury Lodge in Tanzania. His position as Manager of Camp Glenorchy includes responsibilities for commissioning and managing the day-to-day operation along with creating a sustainable and successful triple bottom linebusiness model that aims to combine environmental, financial and community sustainability.

The overarching goal of Camp Glenorchy is to create a warm, welcoming environment that inspires its visitors and guests, while creating a thriving, regenerative business that benefits its guests, the Glenorchy Community Trust and the larger planet. Peter Kerr will oversee the hospitality business, marketing strategies, guest services, financial management, accommodations, environmental education and ecotourism activities.

Peter Kerr begins his new position on June 1st, in preparation for the opening of Camp Glenorchy in December 2017.
