Major Electricity Industry Event Returns to Auckland

Focus on Engineering, Technology and Innovation

The annual conference and exhibition for the electricity supply industry is returning to Auckland after three years in Wellington. The EEA 2018 programme is focused on the three key pillars of the electricity industry; engineering, technology and innovation.

The event brings together national and international experts these issues, that are reshaping the sector. Organisers expect around 1,000 delegates, visitors and exhibitors, attending to hear engaging presentations, interactive panel discussions and papers from engineering, safety and innovation leaders. The event takes place at the Sky City Convention Centre 20-22 June.

“The landscape for the energy sector is on the cusp of major changes lead by emerging technology, big data, customer initiatives, new asset management practices, and evolving business and regulatory models,” says Peter Berry, Executive Director of event organisers the Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA).

“The programme and format for the 2018 EEA Conference and Exhibition will address these burning issues with insights, technical developments and know-how that you can directly use to benefit your organisation.”

The programme for EEA 2018 has just been announced. Highlights include;

Four international keynote speakers;

Olivia Carpenter from the UK and Shay Bahramirad from the USA are both recognized experts in grid modernisation programmes. Rob Stephen from South Africa is President of global electricity supply technology organisation CIGRE. Tim Weidenbach from the USA is an expert in customer delivery of advanced systems for utilities.

Two senior New Zealand keynote speakers;

Alison Andrew CEO of Transpower and Neal Barclay CEO of Meridian Energy, both of whom will bring their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges for the local energy sector.

66 technical presentations in 4 simultaneous streams;

Industry experts present technical papers covering issues such as resilience, distributed generation, asset management, new technology, health and safety, and big data.

Exhibition Hall with over 100 trade stands;

Accessible to delegates throughout the event, and free to trade visitors at specific opening times, the exhibition showcases the latest technology and innovations for the power engineering industry, with exhibitors from New Zealand and overseas.
