Wellington Startup Makes Self-Employment Effortless
Wellington: Bosspac is a new online platform that helps freelancers, contractors and self-employed to manage their income, expenses and tax payments. It’s super easy to use whether you are a first-time contractor or well-seasoned. No prior accounting knowledge is needed.
Being self-employed is difficult because everyone wants a cut from your hard-earned money. “The first two years are especially stressful,” says Lelde Kukle, CEO, and co-founder of Bosspac. “How much and when you need to pay taxes is a basic question that people struggle to answer. Once a person starts self-employment, they are rarely familiar with the requirements of different government agencies.”
Bosspac provides real-time calculations and due dates. It gives clear insight into how much tax, ACC levies and student loan repayments are owed to the government, helping to improve financial literacy and planning for the future - you’ll always know what to expect.
“If you earned $50,000 in your first year in business, you might end up paying one-third of it in taxes and ACC levies over the next two years. A lot of people who are new to self-employment fall into this trap by not setting aside enough funds.”
Bosspac has launched just in time to help sort out the previous tax year for the self-employed. Bosspac customer Neal Smith, a Wellington-based web developer says "it's super simple to use - even I can use it without any help from an accountant or bookkeeper."
Bosspac is a product of the Better for Business Accelerator 2017 and works with government agencies, IRD, ACC, and MBIE. The proud members of the Bosspac team are happy to announce their nomination for the prestigious 2018 Fintech Innovation Challenge.
