Property tech business Airsorted has opened their first New Zealand office in Auckland and has doubled in size while helping busy homeowners join the ever-growing sharing economy by letting out their homes on Airbnb.

Airsorted is mainly used by homeowners who want to give short term letting on Airbnb a try, but don’t have the time or expertise to manage and market it themselves.

Over the past three months Airsorted has doubled it’s business and number of properties that it manages in Auckland as demand for the service continues to rise.

“Short term letting is becoming more popular as a lucrative additional income for many. A two bedroom house in Ponsonby for example, has the potential to bring in over $5000 a month. Most of our customers are homeowners who want to earn some extra income when they are on holiday, or those who are happy to stay elsewhere for a period in order to generate some additional cash,” says Airsorted Auckland Manager, Frances Mannion.

The Airsorted service includes, expert consultation, listing properties on behalf of customers, professional photography and ongoing management including check-in, professional cleaning, hotel standard linen and 24/7 guest support.

Airsorted’s promise is to provide a seamless experience for both hosts and guests, all streamlined through new technology.

Airsorted has over 149 employees in 16 offices worldwide, attracting talent from tech giants such as Uber, Google, Deliveroo and Transferwise. The processes and technology that are in place are a direct reflection of this, including a custom built dashboard for all hosts which allows them to keep track of bookings, block out their calendar and review their performance.

The company also works hard to take care of its staff. Dedicated to promoting gender equality, over 52% of their global management staff are women in leadership roles and the company has a gender neutral parental leave policy where both men and women can take leave to care for their children. Staff are also encouraged to make use of their pawternity leave policy; one week of paid leave to bond with a new pet.

“Setting up the new office in New Zealand has been extremely well received. I love helping Aucklanders finance their travel by letting out their homes which would otherwise have sat empty and equally I love hearing from guests who have been delighted by their experience staying at one of our properties,” says Mannion.

For homeowners who are thinking about becoming Airbnb hosts. Frances’ advice is to get started now. The quieter winter period provides a great opportunity to get fully setup and start generating positive reviews. That way when summer arrives, your home will be ready to take full advantage of the increase in demand. Airsorted plans to expand into Wellington and Queenstown by 2019.
