15 January 2019

Bob Mangan appointed to the role of Chief Executive of the Isaac Theatre Royal

Bob Mangan has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive of the Isaac Theatre Royal and will commence at the beginning of February 2019, David Stock, Chair of the Theatre Royal Charitable Foundation Board has announced.

“We are delighted that Bob is joining us. He brings extensive theatre management experience, most recently as General Manager at Playbill Venue Management Pty Limited in Sydney.

The Isaac Theatre Royal faces new challenges in a changing environment in a post-rebuild era.

Bob has an impressive record of delivering results in high-pressure environments. His venue management experience, stakeholder management and community engagement skills, and a young and energetic approach to management of the Isaac Theatre Royal, greatly enhances our ability to meet those challenges.

The Board is confident that the appointment of Bob to the role of Chief Executive positions the theatre well for the future and will maintain the Isaac Theatre Royal’s position as the pre-eminent performing arts venue in the City.”

Mr Mangan is looking forward to his new role and to living in Christchurch;

“While I have enjoyed the challenges of responsibility for management of venues with significantly higher capacity than that of the Isaac Theatre Royal, I have a passion for smaller performance venues, and their relationship with their communities,” says Mr Mangan.

“Christchurch is an exciting place as it continues to rebuild, and the Isaac Theatre Royal has played a positive role in the rebuild. I look forward to continuing to enhance the theatre’s role, and its place in the City. My wife and I look forward to life in the Garden City also.”
