healthAlliance NZ commits to the UN Women’s Empowerment Prin

Friday 8 March 2019

healthAlliance NZ Ltd., the Northern region district health boards’ shared service agency, has signed a Statement of Support with the New Zealand arm of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) on International Women’s Day.

WEPs is governed by UN Women in New York and it supports and promotes gender diversity and equality around the world.

Its seven principles offer businesses guidance on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and the community.

UN WEPs Committee New Zealand Chair, Vicky Mee, is delighted to have healthAlliance NZ as its newest signatory.

‘The UN Women's Empowerment Principles Committee New Zealand is pleased to welcome healthAlliance NZ as a WEPs signatory on International Women's Day 2019.’

‘We congratulate healthAlliance NZ for its support of the seven WEPs principles which provide a framework for holistic work-place policies that empower women and advance equality and inclusion.’

‘Those principles are a great fit with the International Women’s Day 2019 theme: "A balanced world is a better world" and we look forward to celebrating healthAlliance's commitment on this special day.’

healthAlliance NZ CEO Myles Ward says that signing up with WEPs is a natural progression to their existing gender diversity and inclusion initiatives.

‘We have been working hard to foster a culture that embraces, develops and recognises our female employees over recent times.’

‘We’re very proud to now be a part of WEPs and everything it stands for, and signing our Statement of Support on International Women’s Day makes it all the more significant.’
