NZ Trucking Association Boosts Profile Of Women In Transport Through Social Media
The New Zealand Trucking Association (NTA) is celebrating the professionalism and dedication of women in the transport industry by shining a spotlight on their stories through a new social media campaign. The initiative, part of the Transport Women programme, aims to increase visibility, encourage connection, and showcase the important contributions women make across the sector.
Women in transport are clear about one thing, they don’t want to be treated differently. They don’t boast about being more careful drivers, easier on machinery, or more customer-focused. They simply get on with the job at hand, and they love it. They are professionals who bring the same passion, skill, and commitment as their male counterparts, while often balancing many other challenges life throws their way.
NZ Trucking Association Carol McGeady COO says the campaign is about recognition, not separation.
“What stands out about the women in our industry is their professionalism and resilience. They care deeply about the job they do, the people they work with, and the industry. This campaign is about connecting them, profiling them, and making sure their contribution is seen and celebrated.”
While chrome, horsepower, and machinery often dominate conversations in trucking culture, for many women the pride lies in doing the best job possible and navigating the balance between work and life. One challenge that deserves greater awareness is the impact of menopause, something that, if men experienced for even 24 hours, the world would likely stop. Yet women in transport continue to work through it, demonstrating remarkable strength and perseverance. We would love it if women could share their experiences with Menopause, as we are putting together a program to help share information that helps other women going through the same thing.
Transport Women provides a platform for women to connect with one another in an industry where they are often the minority. The NTA initiative is focused on building visibility and networks, not by creating special treatment, but by offering space for women to share experiences and inspire others.
As part of the campaign, the Association is calling on women working in transport, whether on the road, in the workshop, or behind the scenes, to share their photos, truck pictures, and job details. These stories will be shared widely across NTA’s social media channels to fill the internet with the real faces and voices of women in transport.
“Every day we meet incredible women who keep this industry moving, drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, safety professionals, administrators, business owners, and more. Their stories deserve to be told, not just within transport, but across New Zealand. By sharing these profiles, we hope to inspire more women to join the industry and to give current women in transport a stronger sense of community and pride.”
The campaign is live now, and the NZ Trucking Association invites women across the transport and logistics sector to get involved by sending through their photos and details.
