YES Students Sell Out At Farmers Markets With Over $8,500 In Sales
18 August 2025
The Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) students from Hawke's Bay returned to the Napier Urban Farmers’ Market on Saturday, 16th August, and the renowned Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market on Sunday, 17th August.
More than 90 student teams sold their goods and services alongside regular market vendors across the weekend.

This year students offered EFTPOS and payWave facilities for their stalls, supported by ANZ Hastings. The convenience proved highly successful, with teams collectively making over $8,500 in sales on Sunday alone. Impressively, 20 student businesses completely sold out of their products.
The Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market, a long-standing celebration of local producers, has supported YES since 2001. It provided an invaluable platform for young entrepreneurs to present their innovative products and services to the wider community.
Loren Crossan, Market Manager, expressed her enthusiasm for hosting the event and her ongoing support for YES students.
“The products and services on offer continue to improve each year, and it was great to see the range that this year’s students created,” she said.

Alexis Overend, Regional Coordinator for the Young Enterprise Scheme in Hawke’s Bay, says the Farmers’ Markets are a trusted and well-established space for the student businesses to launch their products and services.
“It gave our students an incredible platform to showcase their products and connect with a wide, supportive audience,” she explained.
A huge thank you to the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market for the collaboration with the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce, who delivers the YES program. The support of the regular stallholders and the community at the markets allows the students to thrive.
A special thanks also goes to Matt van der Gulik and ANZ Hastings for organising and configuring the ANZ FastPay App and EFTPOS terminals, enabling the students to achieve impressive sales.
