Consolidated Tenders Launches NZ’s All-Of-Government Procurement System, Powering NZD $51.5 Bn In Government Spending
Adelaide, South Australia – After an open and competitive tender against leading international procurement-system providers, Consolidated Tenders has been awarded and successfully delivered Procure Connect, New Zealand’s new All-of-Government end-to-end procurement system.
Spearheaded by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE), the initiative aims to make government procurement more efficient, transparent, and accessible, driving better value for money and opening greater opportunities for local businesses. With Procure Connect in place, it unifies the entire procurement cycle, from planning to contracting onto one platform.
Each year, New Zealand has a total spend of approximately NZD $51.5 billion worth of purchases and contracts. Of this, NZD $3.6 billion is spent on panels. Procure Connect will deliver better visibility and accountability on low value expenditure through panel contacts and is targeting annual savings of 3% or NZD $100 million.
Michael Alp, General Manager of New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP), described his enthusiasm for the “awesome” Procure Connect platform, which is also in line with his direction in supporting small and regional businesses.
Delivered in partnership with Australia-based ReadyTech, Procure Connect went live on the 10th of November. “Working with the Ready Tech and Consolidated Tenders team has provided NZGP the ability to create a tool that will genuinely transform the outcomes of government procurement in New Zealand. A key priority for us is enabling businesses to work with government while simplifying and demystifying procurement processes. Procure Connect is the key enabler to that. The work for us has only just begun, now that we have the tool, we are ready to deliver faster and smarter services,” says Michael Alp.
“Enterprise level procurement is a complex process,” says Stephen Blacketer, Consolidated Tenders Managing Director. “We’ve seen the evolving needs of jurisdictions when it comes to systems, and we’ve also been on the other end of the spectrum as suppliers. Procure Connect brings efficiency, transparency, and security to every stage of the cycle, but most importantly, it’s driven by inclusion, ensuring every business has access to the opportunities that fuel economic growth.”
When the full rollout of New Zealand’s Procure Connect is complete, Consolidated Tenders, expects to be managing approximately AUD $100 billion in annual government spending across the whole of government platforms it powers for New Zealand, Victoria, South Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory. In addition to branded government portals, the company also manages a platform that aggregates all opportunities across Australia and New Zealand for its 500,000 registered suppliers.
