Toitoi Team Celebrated With Dual Wins At EVANZ Awards

Toitoi Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre is celebrating two major wins at the 2025 EVANZ Awards, with Sarah Terry, Producer – Community Outreach, named Momentus Technologies Rising Star and Shane Cross, Lead Technician, awarded Vitech Team Member of the Year. These honours recognise the exceptional talent, dedication and heart of the Toitoi team.
Presented by the Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand, the EVANZ Awards celebrate excellence across the country’s arts and events sector. While Toitoi was a finalist for Small Venue of the Year, the spotlight this year was firmly on the people who make the venue what it is.
“These awards are a reflection of the incredible team behind Toitoi,” said Glen Pickering, Presenter Services Manager. “Sarah and Shane bring passion, professionalism and care to everything they do. We are so proud to see their mahi recognised on the national stage.”
Sarah Terry has made a significant impact through her leadership, community engagement, and commitment to educational pathways in the performing arts sector. Her work has helped shape Toitoi’s programming and engagement strategies, bringing fresh energy and insight to the team.
Shane Cross is known for his technical expertise, calm under pressure, and unwavering support for artists and hirers. His behind-the-scenes work ensures every event is delivered with precision and care, and his contribution is deeply valued by colleagues and clients alike.
“These wins are a celebration of the people who bring Toitoi to life every day,” said Rebekah Dinwoodie, Group Manager: Community Wellbeing & Services at Hastings District Council. “We are incredibly proud of Sarah and Shane, and of the entire team who work together to create a space where creativity, culture and community thrive.”
