Dunne backs Peters over Harawira
UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne today backed New Zealand First leader Winston Peters in his call for Maori Party MP Hone Harawira to decide whether he’s a Member of Parliament or a highly-paid anarchist.
Mr Peters described Mr Harawira’s outburst in Parliament last night during debate on the Terrorism Suppression Bill as shameful and a breach of his oath as an MP to uphold the law.
“I agree,” said Mr Dunne, “Hone Harawira must make up his mind whether he’s a responsible legislator or admit he’s simply idling around Parliament, bludging off the taxpayer, and doing nothing but opening his mouth and letting his tongue flap around without any thought for the hatred and incitement to violence he’s stirring up.
“I agree with Mr Peters that Parliament shouldn’t have to put up with this sort of nonsense and further action should be taken,” he said.
