Peters Thanks Neutral Members Of Committee
Rt Hon Winston Peters says he is grateful to those Privileges Committee members who applied themselves fairly and neutrally to the hearings and kept open minds despite the enormous controversy swirling within and outside Parliament.
“However, a majority lined up along political party lines and insisted that I was guilty before and during the hearings. It had echoes of Zimbabwe.
“They have constructed a new test in September 2008 and applied it retrospectively as though it applied in 2005. It therefore became a legal charade.”
Mr Peters said he would comment further on the issue in Parliament tomorrow.
