Environment Commissioner Welcomes Schedule Four Decisions
Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, Dr Jan Wright, is welcoming the Government’s Schedule Four decisions.
Dr Wright made a submission on the Government’s Schedule Four discussion paper in April.
“I am very pleased to see that there will be an addition of other special conservation land into Schedule Four.
“It is also positive to see the Government confirm any area designated a national park or marine reserve will be added to the schedule as it removes a present ambiguity around the process.
“However there are other issues with mining on conservation land outside of Schedule Four and I will be releasing a report examining this situation in a couple of months.”
A copy of the Commissioner’s April submission is available here.
