Rt Hon Gerry Brownlee and a cross-party delegation of members of Parliament (MPs) are in New York and Washington DC, USA with the programme running from 7-10 July 2025.
The accompanying members are Hon Andrew Bayly MP, Hon Barbara Edmonds MP, Tamatha Paul MP and Todd Stephenson MP.
In New York, the delegation will be focused on the United Nations and New Zealand’s interests and inter-play in the organisation.
They will also meet with the Permanent Observer of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to discuss the IPU’s growing relationship with the UN. The New Zealand Parliament is one of 181 IPU member country parliaments.
The delegation will be in Washington DC to further inter-parliamentary relations with US cross-party Congress members.
These include scheduled meetings with the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson; members of the Congressional Friends of New Zealand Caucus; and Chairwoman Rep. Young Kim, Chair of the House East Asia and Pacific sub-committee of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
