31 January 2000 TVNZ MEDIA RELEASE
For immediate release
REPONSE TO GOVERNMENT DIGITAL TELEVISION
DECISION
TVNZ Chairman, Rosanne Meo, says TVNZ fully
appreciates the Government considering this matter so early
in its term, and recognises the Government’s need to
consider this issue within the context of its own
broadcasting policy.
“We are still waiting to be full briefed on the Government’s intentions but we have already offered the Minister any help she may require in developing the new future options for the company.
“The issue of digital however cannot be ignored and must be addressed sooner or later. The current analogue technology is a sunset technology with the whole broadcasting industry worldwide moving to digital platforms.”
