The `Christian' heritage that Graham Capill represents is the heritage of bigotry and persecution that most Christians today have rejected.

`His bigoted and homophobic statements about the Matrimonial Property Bill would not have been out of place in the Spanish Inquisition or other injustices undertaken in the name of
Christianity' said Paul Prestidge of the National Network Stopping Violence Services.

`Thank goodness he represents an extreme view that is not shared by the majority of the population' Mr Prestidge continued.

The National Network Stopping Violence Services views the proposed Relationship Property Bill as fundamental human rights legislation. `We do not believe that it is acceptable to discriminate on the basis of marital status or sexual identity in the matters covered by this Bill' said Mr Prestidge. We absolutely support the intent of the Bill, which is to promote justice, equity and human rights.

We also have total confidence in Tim Barnett as the chair of the Select Committee considering the Bill. `He is prepared to acknowledge that marriage and heterosexual relationships are acceptable. This is a stark contrast to Mr Capill and his ilk who seem to think that their way is the only way.' Concluded Mr Prestidge.
