An update - Weds 21 November

The response to sing4peace.com has been amazing with more than 700 visitors to the site so far!

As a result of the building interest, a Communications Centre has been set up in the Selwyn House Technology Block to manage the flow of information and liaison with the media.

This morning registrations from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and e-commerce organisation Co Funds in London have been added to the site and the girls are awaiting confirmation from schools in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, London, Scotland, all over Australia and the US.

e-mails to NZ and overseas schools and organisations telling them about the Sing4Peace Day on the 29th November were only sent on Friday and already Selwyn House School has registrations from all around NZ and the world. New Zealand schools including Aranui High School (ChCh), St James' School (Palmerston North), St Joseph's School (Waitara), Kohimarama School (Auckland), Kutarere School (Opotiki), Solway College (Masterton), Central Normal School (Palmerston North),
St Kentigern School, (Auckland) and Kaka Point School.

GlobalNet (www.GlobalNet.org.nz) and Southern Doctor www.southerndoctor.co.nz are two organisations that have also registered for sing4peace.

Messages of support from have been heart warming and encouraging - things like: "What a wonderful idea, we would love to sing on the 29th" and "A fantastic idea, well done Selwyn House, we are looking forward to supporting this day" That last one was from Kohimarama School in Auckland where all 472 students and 35 staff will sing together for peace on the 29th November.

Very large groups are taking part on Sing4Peace Day on the 29th. At Central Normal School in Palmerston North, their registration says their choir has learnt the song "Let There Be Peace On Earth" which plays on the website www.sing4peace.com and they sang it to a special groups of visitors to the school last Friday.

Over the next week, the Selwyn House Year 8’s will be visiting Christchurch schools to talk to them about Sing4Peace Day. One such visit will see the girls visiting The School for Deaf – Van Asch College in Sumner - where “signing-on to sing for peace” will take on a whole new meaning. Van Asch plans to sign “Let There Be Peace On Earth” (the song features on the website and the song Selwyn House is suggesting people sing on the day – words and music available for download from the site) on Thursday 29th November – Sing 4 Peace Day. Talk about interactive! It's fantastic.

With more than 700 visitors to the site from all over the world to date, the Selwyn House team can follow the traffic to sing4peace.com thanks to a Statistic Programme written into the website. So far, 78% of the visitors have been from NZ, with others from Australia, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, USA, Egypt, Colombia (that might have even been the PM!) and many other places around the world.
