Asia 2000 Foundation announces new Board member

Tim Gibson, Chief Executive of New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, has been appointed a member of Asia 2000's Board of Trustees by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Phil Goff.

Welcoming the appointment Sir Dryden Spring, Asia 2000's chair, said: "Mr Gibson is an outstanding New Zealand businessman with widespread international business experience and substantial experience in Asia."

Mr Gibson was appointed to head New Zealand Trade & Enterprise this year following the merger of Industry New Zealand and Trade New Zealand. For 12 years he worked for the New Zealand Dairy Board, which was New Zealand's largest company with annual revenues of US$4 billion.

Mr Gibson replaces the Hon Fran Wilde, the former chief executive of Trade New Zealand. Thanking her for her contribution to Asia 2000, Sir Dryden said: "Fran Wilde brought to the Board a broad international perspective, great energy and a strong personal commitment."

Asia 2000 is a non-profit organisation dedicated to building New Zealand's links with Asia in business, culture, education and media. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been responsible for appointing the board members of Asia 2000 since its inception in 1994.

The Asia 2000 Board consists of 21 members and includes representatives of the private sector, government and social interests.
