Campaign For The Privy Council

Campaign For The Privy Council

The Rule of Law is at risk. The failure of our Government to recognize a fundamental constitutional issue is appalling. Petty party politics is failing the electorate when our MP's fail to respond to the calls for a referendum to give the people a voice. In essence it means we cannot trust our MP's to abide by the law if it hinders their own personal political agenda.

This has serious consequences for our community now and in the future for the dangerous precedent it sets. In essence Parliament has lost control when this behaviour can occur at the whim of the Executive. Our MP's need to restore the faith in the system and not pass the Supreme Court Bill. If the people cannot trust their MP's to adhere to fundamental requirements such as the rule of law the MP's will have to answer for their actions.

Parliament needs to take control of this Bill, allow the country to vote on the issue and decide whether to retain the Privy Council or not. Our fate and that of future generations is in the hands of Parliament.

Our MP's must observe their fundamental duty to Parliament and the electorate to preserve the rule of law over and above any duty to party, friends or favourites. This Bill must not be passed.
