ORNZ leader: Greens wrong as usual
The Council chairman of Outdoor Recreation New Zealand, Paul Check, says the attacks on his party by Green co-leader, Rod Donald, are ill-directed and wrong ‘as usual’.
“We are accustomed to extremist so-called environmentalists misrepresenting us and our views,” said Mr Check, “but Mr Donald’s opinions are bizarre to say the least.
“He seems to be under the delusion that ORNZ members are cud-chewing, gun-slinging hillbillies whose only role in life is to shoot every living creature on the planet.
“May I inform the seriously out-of-touch Mr Donald that our thousands of members are sane, sensible New Zealanders who enjoy the experience of the New Zealand outdoors, whether it’s fishing, hunting, tramping or simply sitting on the beach.
“Mr Donald seems to think ORNZ and United Future will come into political conflict over Meridian Energy’s Project Aqua in the Waitaki River.
“Mr Donald is wrong on this as well, since ORNZ has yet to announce a policy on Project Aqua,” said Mr Check. “Mr Donald claims to be very concerned about gun control, but the only thing that’s been shot today is his credibility.”
