Images: Rally Protesting Against Zaoui Detention
Christchurch supporters of imprisoned Algerian refugee Ahmed Zaoui gathered yesterday outside the Christchurch Cathedral at 12 midday. The gathering began with a Muslim call to prayer followed by an interfaith exchange of prayers. After the prayer service speakers, Green MP Keith Locke addressed the gathering. The gathering then proceeded to the SIS office where a cage was erected and a week long vigil by supporters of the plight of Mr Zaoui commenced.
