Tuesday 23 May Lunchtime Forum

Futures Thinking Aotearoa
May Forum

Creating the Future:
AgResearch's 2020 Science Strategy

Led by Dr Stephen Goldson
AgResearch Chief Science Strategist

The meeting will be chaired by Rick Christie
Chairman of the AgResearch Board and a patron of NZFT.

Tuesday, 23 May from 12.15 - 1.30pm
Large Gallery, Turnbull House, Bowen St, Wellington

'2020 Science' aims to transparently promote, to the pastoral sector, the issues to be tackled if New Zealand is to prosper over the next 14 years, highlighting in turn just how uniquely placed Crown Research Institutes (CRIs) are to carry out the necessary long-term work needed to produce such a report.

"It is an evolving strategy that will help deliver for the future what was delivered to today's pastoral sector by New Zealand's agricultural innovators over the last 100 years."

Dr Goldson said AgResearch would welcome any feedback on the material to ensure the understanding and support of its stakeholders and partners.

Dr Stephen Goldson is presently AgResearch's Chief Science Strategist, the Biosecurity Theme Leader at the National Centre for Advanced Bio-protection Technologies, Chief Scientist of the container biosecurity start up company known as ContainerScan and a Professional Fellow at Lincoln University.

In 1999 Dr Goldson was appointed by Cabinet to the New Zealand Independent Biotechnology Advisory Council and in 2005 to the Ministerial Biosecurity Advisory Committee. Dr Goldson is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Agricultural Science, a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society of London and a Companion of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
