Bill Welcomed By Investment Council
Bill Welcomed By Investment Council
The Council for
Socially Responsible Investment welcomes the introduction of
Maryan Street’s Bill into Parliament. In 2005 the CSRI
conducted research to show that all the Crown Financial
Institutions were investing in tobacco companies and
companies that were in gross breach of international human
rights and environmental standards.
Our conference last year was aimed to identify international best practice with a view to introducing socially responsible and environmentally sustainable criteria into investment patterns of the Crown Financial Institutions.
While some of the CFIs have taken some initiatives, we believe that legislative change is important, and we support this initiative. We believe it should, and will, receive the support and endorsement of all the political parties to reflect the widespread public concern about the traditional investment patterns of the CFIs.
