Therapeutic Products And Medicines Bill
MEDIA ALERT
12 December 2006
Therapeutic Products And Medicines Bill
The Therapeutic Products and Medicines Bill is being
debated in Parliament this afternoon.
If the Government
has sufficient support to pass this bill today, it will then
go to a Select Committee and then public submissions will be
invited.
Natural Products New Zealand (NPNZ), the industry body representing a significant proportion of New Zealand natural health product manufacturers and marketers, is in support of the joint agency since most of the industry concerns have been addressed and the Government’s offer of a support package last month.
Its members include small, medium and large health supplement manufacturers and marketers. (Do not assume that all small companies are against this bill being introduced.)
NPNZ is concerned about the amount of misinformation and scaremongering that has been circulating in a bid to stop the bill being introduced.
