NZ US Council In Washington For PM's Visit

The NZ US Council will be represented in Washington at the time of Prime Minister Helen Clark's visit next week (20-21 March).

Council Executive Director Stephen Jacobi and Board member Mike Hearn will visit Washington DC as well as Chicago and Seattle and attend public events involving the Prime Minister, including a reception and dinner to be hosted by the US NZ Council in Washington on 21 March.

Mr Hearn is also Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand.

"The Prime Minister's visit is another significant step forward in the expanding relationship with the United States" said Stephen Jacobi.

"We are pleased to support our Washington based counterpart, the US NZ Council, in welcoming Helen Clark".

The visit would also enable further planning to be undertaken for the second US NZ Partnership Forum to be held in Auckland in September.

"The Partnership Forum is set to be the most senior gathering of American and New Zealand government and business leaders ever held in New Zealand. Planning is already well advanced. We are confident the event will build on the success of the first ever Forum held in Washington last April and make a major contribution to deepening the NZ US relationship".
