Fifth New Zealand Biosecurity Summit

MAF Biosecurity New Zealand would like to invite journalists to attend the conference sessions of the New Zealand Biosecurity Summit in Auckland, 24-25 October.

The theme of this year’s summit is: “Biosecurity and trade, working together at the border”. There will be a wide range of government and industry attendees.

Sessions include:
• A keynote speech from Ruud Kleinpaste (“The Bugman”) on the synergies between biodiversity, bugs and biosecurity.
• A keynote speech from Rod Oram on the economics associated with climate change
• The importance of maintaining biosecurity standards for our agricultural industries, Mark Leslie, General Manager Fonterra, Sustainable Milk Supply
• Presentation of the 2007 MAF Biosecurity New Zealand Awards, Hon Jim Anderton, Minister for Biosecurity

MAF Biosecurity New Zealand has convened the annual Biosecurity Summit since 2003. The summit provides a forum for those involved and interested in biosecurity to meet, discuss issues, and share information on latest developments.
