Board of Inquiry announces pre-hearing timetable
Board of Inquiry announces pre-hearing timetable and commencement date for hearing on Upper North Island Grid Upgrade Proposal
The Board of Inquiry has made public the submissions received by the Minister and a pre-hearing timetable on Transpower’s proposal for a new electricity line in the upper North Island. The Hearing on the proposal is expected to start on the 25 March 2008.
The independent Board of Inquiry was appointed by Minister Hodgson, in August, to make a decision on Transpower’s proposal. Transpower is proposing to build a new overhead electricity transmission line, underground cables and substations, from Whakamaru to Otahuhu and Pakuranga (the proposed North Island Grid Upgrade Project).
The Board of Inquiry is chaired by Judge David Sheppard with members Kevin Prime, Dr Deborah Read and John Rutherford. Under the Resource Management Act the Board will hear and consider the submissions and make decisions on the requirement and the resource-consent applications for the Transpower Upper North Island Grid Upgrade Proposal.
There were 1244 submissions on the proposal.
