Statement on Error in the Crown Accounts
18 March 2008
The State Services Commissioner, Mark Prebble, today commented on the Department of Inland Revenue’s error in the Crown Accounts for the period ending 31 January 2008.
“The Commissioner of Inland Revenue has said that his Department is responsible for an error in estimating tax flows in January.
“I am disappointed that this has happened. It is a serious error because it affected the accuracy of the Crown accounts, and I will take it into account in considering Bob Russell’s performance for the year.
“Bob is determined to identify what went wrong, and to make any improvements to ensure that it is avoided in the future. I am sure he will continue to provide good leadership to his team as they learn from this mistake,” Mark Prebble said.
