The call for entries for the 2008 Prime Minister's Social Hero's Award have officially opened.
The Robin Hood Foundation would like New Zealanders to nominate their own business or a business they think is deserving of recognition for a community partnership by emailing awards@robinhood.org.nz
The application process is simple with all shortlisted candidates being personally interviewed. Nominations close on June 8th 2008 and the awards night will be held at St Mathews in the City Auckland on August 7th 2008.
The inaugural Prime Minister's Social Hero's Awards were launched in July 2007, with House of Travel winning the Supreme Award for the relationship its 90 outlets had built with local Hospices through Hospice New Zealand.
At the time judges noted the partnership demonstrated: A willingness to go into a sensitive area and had been successful in engaging their people in the spirit of the partnership - and the experience of understanding hospices.
"After five years of campaigning to see corporate social responsibility move from the margins of business dialogue into the mainstream, the Robin Hood Foundation Board sees the annual awards as playing a much needed role in ensuring that business is seen and acknowledged for its work in our social sector," said Robin Hood Chairman Sharon Hunter.
