Fill a Bag and Help the DCM Foodbank
The brown paper bag food appeal is on and provides another opportunity to support the DCM Food Bank.
However, don’t be confused if the bags make no mention of DCM or other food banks, the appeal is coordinated by the City Mission and is intended to support food banks throughout the Wellington region.
You can contribute to the Downtown Community Ministry food bank by filling up a bag, found inside a Dominion Post issued this week, with food bank items and drop it in to the Downtown Community Ministry offices. We’re also collecting all the bags from Shell Taranaki St and the Central Fire Station at on Oriental Parade.
After the great response to the Winter Food Appeal last weekend, the Brown Paper Bag Appeal is a chance to ensure food banks are filled up over winter.
Items in high demand are tinned meat and fish, and milk powder.
Downtown Community Ministry Director Stephanie McIntyre says, “These appeals really help us stock up on foods most needed at the food bank. If we can store up enough food we can carry on giving out complete food parcels throughout the colder months.
“The Brown Paper Bag Appeal lasts until July 4th so please get your donation in to the depots (listed above) by then, although, you can donate to DCM at our offices in Lukes Lane anytime during the week.”
