Tax and Spend Government true to form
Tax and Spend Government true to form
The Kiwi
Party
Press Release
July 4, 2008
The shock announcement of a 7% increase in road user charges should come as no surprise the Kiwi Party leader, Larry Baldock said today.
"While every Kiwi is already having to tighten their belts with higher food, fuel and interest costs, the Government should be leading by setting an example through reducing its own costs and keeping ours down. Since the Government is already collecting additional GST revenue from higher fuel prices it is not necessary to increase road user charges at this time.
"Instead we see the old 'tax and spend' Labour Government causing pain to all hardworking Kiwis so that it can continue to dish out lollies in an election year to try and hold on to their privileged positions," said the Kiwi Party Leader.
"Labour has been consistently increasing taxes, fees and charges in all sorts of areas over the last nine years as pointed out by my colleague Gordon Copeland MP in Parliament recently," said Mr Baldock.
