Beware of the Whitewash of NZ first financial reporting inquiry.

Although it might suit members of parliament to keep the Winston Peters donation matters in-house, the correct process dictates that the taxpayer funded Electoral Commission has a statutory obligation to investigate this matter.

The law states that the Electoral Commission must “supervise political parties’ compliance with the Act’s financial disclosure requirements…..”.

Independent Candidate for Tauranga Gray Eatwell has written to the Electoral Commission seeking compliance enforcement, but has had no response from them yet.

Gray Eatwell said in Tauranga today, “Given the draconian conditions of the Electoral Act that governs our democratic and civil rights to challenge incumbent MPs, I believe the Electoral Commission has a statutory public duty to resolve the Peters financial debacle.

I find it sickening to hear the excuses being bandied about the very people who passed those draconian laws.”

“I am awaiting the Electoral Commission’s reply”.
