UPDATE TO CANDIDATE NOMINATIONS FOR TĀMAKI MAKAURAU ELECTORATE
The Chief Electoral Officer has accepted the nomination of Marama Nathan as an independent candidate for the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate.
The nomination, which was lodged before the deadline of midday 14 October, was not accepted at the time because the enrolment status of the two nominees on the nomination form was not verified.
It was confirmed this afternoon that the two nominees were enrolled as electors in the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate before the midday nomination deadline, thereby establishing that the nomination was valid.
The total number of candidates standing in the 2008 general election has been updated to 682.
