SOLO-NZ Press Release: Bolshevik Brownlee Shows National Socialists Haven't Changed
January 5, 2009
Energy minister Gerry Brownlee's call for petrol companies to make immediate price cuts, as he accuses them of holding prices to capitalise on the peak holiday driving period, is tragic proof that the National Socialists haven't changed since the days of Muldoon, says SOLO Principal Lindsay Perigo.
"The Minister is privy to a report comissioned by the previous Labour-led Government that the industry is fundamentally competitive.
"His party pretends to believe that prices should be determined by supply and demand - a concept that Brownlee himself is probably unable to grasp.
"His attempted bullying of the petrol suppliers is reminiscent of the days when Comrade Muldoon imposed a price freeze and threatened jail to those who violated it. After a promising start, it hasn't taken long for the National Socialists to revert to form," Perigo concludes.
