Animal Rights Lobby Admit Not Caring About Duck Numbers
The International Coalition for Women in Shooting and Hunting (WiSH) have condemned claims by the animal rights lobby that the sustainability of waterbird populations is irrelevant.
In a startling outburst to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, a South Australian animal rights lobby spokesperson has admitted that they believe duck numbers are irrelevant, and do not consider sustainability an issue.
“Over the past few years, animal rights extremists have tried desperately to convince people that they oppose duck hunting on the grounds of science and sustainability. This has now been exposed as an absolute furphy, and it is clear the animal rights lobby care only about pushing an ideological agenda,” said WiSH Chair Dr Samara McPhedran.
“It is shameful that animal rights extremists have so little regard for the ongoing wellbeing of waterbird populations, and are blatantly disinterested in how well or poorly bird populations are faring.”
Dr McPhedran said “We each have a responsibility to future generations to ensure the long-term sustainability of waterbird populations in this country.”
“One reason why duck numbers are stable or increasing is that hunters care enough about future generations to be out on the wetlands year round, restoring habitat, building nesting boxes, and removing introduced predators so that ducks can breed and thrive.”
